"The art of living doesn't take a new way of building, it takes a new way of life"
- Costantino Nivola
The hotel design is inspired by Costantino Nivolas’ work and legacy, and the desire to pass this onto future generations aligning with the “living museum” concept. The hotel becomes a place for people not only to escape to during holidays, but rather a flourishing, experimental space where guests can take inspiration from his work and each other in developing their own art and artistic identity.
Along with the accommodation, the hotel offers a chance to connect with the unique nature of the location: an art oasis, represented by indoor and outdoor workshops where visitors can experiment with paint, wood, metal, or stone to express their creativity. Attracting people to the location all year long, the design transforms the hotel from a place where you can only visit and observe to a space where you can DO, get inspired, influence, and interact, bringing it to life.
The hotel design is composed of two parts. The hotel reception, café and bar, restaurant, and two workshops are all located on the ground floor, with direct stairs that take visitors to the roof, where they can enjoy the panoramic views over olive trees. The breathtaking vista can also be viewed from the hotel rooms, composed of arches floating over the ground facing towards the town. The design on the roof reflects Nivola’s geometric artwork in the positioning of the skylights, inspired by his famous sculpture in New York Fifth Avenue, inviting sunlight into the ground floor space adding an artistic touch.
